To the rhythm of the vine

A terroir, a climate

A terroir

Thanks to the topography, the slopes of Monein are sunny enough to guarantee a good maturation of the grapes.

Our vines grow on the south and west side of the slopes at the foot of the Pyrénées in clayet and silty soils. The soils are poor but irrigated enough to help for a deep-rooting of the grapevine.

Thus, because of this tough condition, the vine offers a limited production and a strong concentration of the grape-berry offers a typical originality to all our wines.

We respect both our soil and the nature thanks to a Organic culture and HVE 3, an organic fertilization and a meticulous work in our vineyards, in the respect of an ancestral knowledge.

A climate

The coldness from the mountain, the softness from the ocean and a good repartition of precipitations are at the root of wine development.

The place our vine is grown also protects our grape variety from the harmful effect of the frost in spring.

In automn, days are sunny, nights are cold and damp, and there is a hoarfrost in the morning, so the maturation of the grapes is preserved.

Thanks to the Foen effect: a hot airstream from Spain offers a typical over-ripening of the grapes of our appellation called raisining.

More particularly in November, the contrast between the coldness of the nights and the heat of the days withers more the grapes while increasing their concentration.
